Highly motivated and creative, Karin has twenty years of experience in writing, editing, designing, and producing for a long and diverse list of publications and clients.
Karin started her career in advertising at Laughlin, Marinaccio & Owens in Arlington, Virginia, where she worked on such accounts as the Army National Guard and the Consumer Information Center. Her next job, as a freelance writer for The Washington Times, gave her the chance to travel all over the world and interview ten heads-of-state and countless ministers. At East West Communications in Washington, DC, she helped clients such as the governments of Greece, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine with conceptualization and implementation of ad campaigns, websites and other digital communications, and with media outreach. Some of the work involved on-going campaigns, while other projects were tied to a specific event, such as the work she did for the government of Greece during the run-up to the 2004 Olympics. Since starting her own company, she has added AARP, the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Transportation, George Washington University, The Huffington Post, Public Broadcasting Service, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Navy to her long list of clients for whom she has written, designed, and produced Web and print materials.
Karin’s designs and photographs have appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The International Herald Tribune, among other publications, and her illustrations in Good Housekeeping and Martha Stewart Living. Her writing credits include media outlets such as National Public Radio and MSNBC.com, and she is a contributing editor to five Fodor's guidebooks (an imprint of Random House) and two guidebooks by SAS Media (Scandinavian Airlines’ media division). Her misadventures while traveling can be found in 'I Should Have Gone Home: Tripping Up Around the World' (RDR Books), 'I Should Have Stayed Home: Tantalizing Tales of Extreme Cuisine' (RDR Books) and 'The Risks of Sunbathing Topless' (Seal Press). Her first children's book, published by the Swedish publisher Speja förlag in 2020, was recently nominated for the Swedish Preschoolers' Literary Prize.
